Got It Better

Amanda stands in front of the mirror, her posture slightly slouched, revealing her insecurity. She’s plus-size, with a soft, curvy frame that she's never quite felt comfortable in. Her short hair, cut in a practical bob that barely grazes her chin, is unevenly styled, a result of quick fixes and lack of confidence to experiment with more flattering looks. Her wardrobe reflects her uncertainty: plain, baggy clothes in neutral tones, chosen more for comfort and the desire to hide than to express any sense of fashion. She avoids bold patterns or anything that might draw attention, sticking to loose shirts and pants that blend in. Her body language speaks volumes—crossed arms, hesitant glances, and a slight fidgeting as if she's always second-guessing her appearance. There’s a nervousness in her eyes, a quiet hope for acceptance but an expectation of judgment.

Amanda: You know, Scott, sometimes it just feels like men have it so much easier than women. I mean, look at the job market, and social expectations—there are so many ways in which it just seems like men have it handed to them.

Scott: (nodding) I hear you. What kind of examples are you thinking about?

Amanda: Well, for one, look at how men get treated in the workplace. They often get promoted faster, and it seems like they're taken more seriously right from the start. And then there’s the whole societal pressure. Men don’t face the same kind of judgment when it comes to appearance or family roles.br>
Scott: That’s a fair point. It’s definitely noticeable how different expectations can be.

Amanda: Exactly! And it’s not just at work. Think about the way people react to women who speak up. There’s always this risk of being labeled too aggressive or bossy, while men can be assertive and it’s just seen as leadership.

Scott: Yeah, those are important issues to consider. It sounds like there’s a lot to unpack in terms of how gender affects people’s experiences and opportunities.

Amanda: It really is. I just wish there was more awareness and change around these issues. Sometimes it feels like things are moving too slowly.

Scott: I understand. It’s definitely a complex topic and change can be slow.

Scott: (after a moment's pause) Would you like to swap lives?

Amanda: (incredulous) What?

Scott: You heard me. If you could be me would you do it?

Amanda: In a heartbeat.

Scott: (smiling) GREAT!

The swap was uneventful. There weren't any bright lights or screams of pain. They had simply swapped places. Amanda was now in Scott's body and vice versa.

Amanda: I don't believe it.

Scott: You don't want to swap back?

Amanda: No way.

The new Amanda started immediately, although the final transformation took months. She had taken control of her life by focusing on her health, building her confidence, and embracing her new femininity in ways the old Amanda hadn’t before. She lost weight through dedication to fitness and clean eating, learned how to dress to express her personality, and advanced her career by taking classes. Joining women’s organizations helped her develop a strong sense of self-worth and community.

One day, as Amanda walked confidently down a brightly lit hall, her pink crop top revealing her toned midriff and satiny emerald leggings accentuating her newfound figure, she felt invincible. Heads turned, but Amanda didn't notice—her mind was focused on her goals and her path forward.

Suddenly, she heard hurried footsteps behind her. She turned to see the new Scott, in her former male body, approaching quickly. He hadn't seen her in months. Catching his breath, he exclaimed, "You tricked me. This isn't fair! I want my body back!"

New Amanda: (smirking) You didn't want this life...and you aren't going to get it back. It's mine now!

The new Scott grabbed Amanda by the wrist. As compared with Amanda he was physically intimidating.

New Scott: Give me my body back. I'm warning you.

Amanda kicked Scott in the balls. Scott dropped to the floor like a sack of potatoes.

New Amanda: (in a low voice) Don't ever touch me or talk to me again. If you do, I'll have you arrested.

Amanda walked away as Scott grabbed his crotch on the floor in clear agony.
